La electroforesis de proteínas: más que una prueba de laboratorio

Resumen

La electroforesis de proteínas es una técnica de laboratorio que permite la separación de las proteínas de acuerdo a sus características físicas y al método utilizado. En el suero humano se han identificado más de 120 proteínas con un amplio rango de heterogeneidad y han sido clasificadas en regiones tales como la albúmina, las α-globulinas, las β-globulinas y las γ globulinas de acuerdo a su carga eléctrica y a su peso molecular. Esta es la técnica más utilizada para estudiar las proteínas en forma integral como una prueba de tamización, por lo tanto se requieren estudios adicionales y más específicos para el diagnóstico de las alteraciones aquí reportadas. El presente artículo es una revisión completa sobre las características más importantes de la electroforesis de proteínas, los valores de referencia y las alteraciones de mayor interés clínico con las figuras correspondientes.ellos de mayor interés clínico. Por último, se establecen las bases para su adecuada interpretación.
